An Extension to an Educational Office
Refurbishment of 1000m² of existing DNEA offices, and the addition of a further 700m² of offices to meet the increased needs of the DNEA. Special attention had to be given to ensuring the security of the premises as the nation’s questionnaire papers are printed here. The offices also have to remain in use throughout the
construction process and thus phasing of construction is of crucial importance. The additions had to tie in with the exterior design and colouring of the existing Government office park. Special attention is given within the refurbishment and the new design to allow for natural light and ventilation to all occupied offices.
Screens to protect all of the exterior office windows from theft serve the dual purpose of providing effective sun shading to the windows. Attention is given to upgrading the existing derelict courtyard space with indigenous planting
and seating to provide an area where staff can relax in a secure environment. Indigenous landscaping and durable benches in selected spaces will uplift the exterior space of the building.
